Organization and Paragraphs

Organization and Paragraphs:

refers to the overall structure of a piece of writing that guides readers. Within that structure, transitions show how ideas, sentences, and paragraphs are connected.

  •  a logical order to your writing based on the mode- Does it flow beginning, middle, and end in a narrative piece?  Are your steps in chronological order if it is explanatory? etc.
  •  an introduction and conclusion
  • use of transition words- first, second, then, finally etc.
  • good paragraphs are at least five sentences
  • a main idea sentence is usually first or last within the paragraph
  • every paragraph is a single idea
