Welcome to 5th Grade Writing 101

On this website you will learn all about writing. You will explore the three different types of writing (Narrative, Informative, and Persuasive). You will also look closely at how these writing are scored using the state rubric. Throughout these pages you will not only become a better writer, but also have some fun!

Getting Started!  The three types of writing:

  • Narrative: story telling.  (5th graders seem to be especially good at this one.) Story Map
  • Persuasive: convince someone to do something or think a certain way. (convincing a 5th grade teacher to allow for extra wellness time, for example.)
  • Informative: giving information  or explain how to accomplish something. (how to become a better writer, for example)
